Specialist Teaching Assistants form part of the dedicated whole staff team.  All of our Specialist Teaching Assistants are employed specifically to work with individual or small groups of pupils under the direction of the class teacher/form tutor supporting the pupils’ learning and behaviour.  Specific skills of individual Specialist Teaching Assistants are taken into account.

To be responsible for ensuring child protection and the welfare and well being of the children in our care.

Our commitment to safeguarding means that you will need to fill in an application form and we welcome applications from candidates who have:

  • Good numeracy/literacy skills
  • GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths (9 -4/A-C grades or L2 Functional Skills)
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Provide a positive role model and support to pupils

Maplefields Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all teaching staff, support staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Shortlisted applicants will be required to supply details of any unspent convictions and conditional cautions and any spent convictions and adult cautions that are not protected (i.e., that are not filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended). If you are appointed you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

All  posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS clearance check as well as a satisfactory health check and 2 satisfactory references from current and previous employers as part of our safer recruitment processes  and all shortlisted candidates will be subject to online searches.

The positions are for 38 weeks of the year  plus five training days.

Salary Range Grade:    E point 4 – actual salary £21,638

Hours per Week:                37 hours per week (Monday 8.30-4.30, Tuesday to Friday 8.30 to 3.45)
