The Bliss Charity School

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The role is for 3 days a week (3 full days or each morning and one afternoon).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing dedicated support to a Key Stage 1 pupil.
  • Supporting regulation, implementation of EHCP targets and helping them engage with their learning and peers.
  • Implementing tailored strategies to support the pupil’s individual needs including regular sensory circuit sessions.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff to develop and deliver inclusive learning activities.
  • Creating a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

  • Passionate about working with children and supporting their educational development.
  • Patient with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Knowledgeable about SEND and motivated to continue learning and developing in this area.
  • Experienced and able to support sensory needs and regulation.
  • Compassionate and flexible in responding to the needs of the pupil.
  • Able to communicate effectively and confident in the use of scripted language.
  • Calm, consistent, and able to maintain a positive approach.
  • Able to develop and implement inclusive strategies to promote engagement and success.
  • Approachable and engaging; enabling the pupil to feel safe and confident.
  • Hardworking, assertive, committed, and willing to go the ‘extra mile’ to ensure the pupil’s needs are met.
